YUTING CHENG

CLARINETIST & COMPOSER

"Extraordinary virtuosity” -CHIMEI Arts Award
"Yu-Ting is an absolutely wonderful artist...I particularly loved her sublime playing in the slow movement, where her radiant tone and long phrases were so evident. And as for the last movement — The tempi and dynamism of the performance had me clinging to the edge of my seat." -Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano

ABOUT YUTING

Hailed for her “extraordinary virtuosity” (CHIMEI Arts Award), as well as for her “sublime playing” and “radiant tone” ( Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano), Taiwanese clarinetist Dr. Yu-Ting Cheng has revealed her uncommon musical versatility and earned recognition as a solo artist by winning numerous top prizes in her younger career, including the national music competition Hsing-Tien Kong Young Artist Award, the 2019 Stony Brook Concerto Competition, the 32nd CHIMEI Arts Award, the 5th North International Music Competition, the American Prize National Competitions in Instrumental Performance and the Ernst Bacon Award of American Music.

Additionally, Yu-Ting is the recipient of the Valeri Canady Foundation Scholarship in clarinet performance 2015 and Outstanding Alumni Award of Taiwan Chapter Society of Peabody Conservatory Alumni 2017. Awarded fellowships by the highly reputable Norfolk New Music Workshop 2019 and LUCERNE Festival 2020 has established her as a prominent voice for contemporary music in the clarinet world.
